The goal of the project was initially to build a simple air purifier with a plywood box, furnace air filters, and PC Fans. This is similar to the designs others have made such as these and many other similar designs: Clean Air Kits, Joey Fox, Tex Air Filters. Over time the scope grew a lot and I put more emphasis on making it look nice. Most of the work has gone into the construction of the hardwood outer shell which uses louvers and caning to conceal the filters and PC fans.
